This program starts with a presentation by educational expert Dewy Cornell who provides a historical perspective on school violence. Experts on bomb threats and building security issues discuss ways you can design your school to be sure you are providing a welcome, yet secure, environment. A physical security checklist that can be used to determine whether your school has accounted for all potential security threats is also included. The later sections of the program focus on ways to foster effective communication among students, staff, parents and community members so that school officials can intervene before a crisis takes place. A major emphasis is on bullying and the effect it can have on students who become the victims.
